SUPPORT & RESOURCES

If my story brings up challenging things for you...

Hearing stories about trauma, family, identity, and leaving high-control environments can bring up difficult emotions or memories. For some people, it can also be confusing or confronting to begin questioning past experiences, relationships, beliefs or environments they once understood as normal. Realising that something you experienced may have been harmful or part of a high-control dynamic can be a deeply complex process, and you don’t have to navigate those feelings alone. I’m so grateful for the kindness, support and messages from people who have connected with my experiences and found something in my story that resonates with their own. However, I’ve spent many years intentionally building a life beyond my past, and a significant part of my healing journey has been creating safety, stability and peace for myself. While I’m thankful that my story has resonated with so many, I’m not able to personally engage with other people’s experiences of trauma or leaving high-control groups.

If you are processing your own experiences, I encourage you to contact services that are trained to support you. Healing looks different for everyone, but I hope my story can be a reminder that your past doesn't have to define your future.
